In recent posts, I’ve made mention of how small and delicate many of the pieces are for this DIY garden kit. In this post, I’m going to give you an opportunity to understand just what I mean by that.

Here is the picture of a climbing vine I’m meant to make:


And the teeny tiny flowers that must be cut out and individually glued onto the cut green wires:



Look like fun? Then this is the sort of kit for you!

Last but not least, a snapshot of the other pieces I just finished up:



Kraft paper flower pots, Straw hat, as well as all of the potted plant/flower work which is referred to in the guide as Bonsai No. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10,  and 11 (the climbing vine).

I'm excited to say that, while there's still MUCH to do, I'm finally nearing the end of this project. There are about two more pages of flower, plant, and container assembly at which point, at least it appears upon cursory review of the guide, I will be able to begin assembling the electrical, the actual building, and finally, glue the pieces in place.

A couple years ago my mother offered up an old dollhouse she'd been gifted. I adored the one I had growing up. I'd saved birthday money, Christmas money, chore money, ANY money; and all so that I could purchase the kit myself. It cost a small fortune for someone so young. I didn't build it myself, mind. Just a super quick update on the bookshelf. Upon our return from our summer vacation, I found it finally made its way over to me from the Netherlands. As promised, I put it together (as it was a kit): And then I painted and antiqued it: I've decided I'm happy with the hutch I previously used in the Apothecary roombox since it had more room than this one turned out to have, and so I will determine another use for this bookshelf on some later project. Any eagle-eyed followers may well have spotted the clue about what my next post topic will most definitely cover...and it is BIG!

The quest to shore up the dollhouse continues. All areas at the top and bottom have been secured, now I move to the middle. Notice the way this section sags on either side: Using wood glue, applied with a mascara wand, I coat the sides: As well as the layers that are coming apart: I placed shims to ensure the middle section would stay supported while curing, and though I originally thought I had more clamps than it turned out I did, I had to resort to chip clips, but only on the spots that didn't need the greatest support. I then placed the large clamp on either side of the mid-section: I allowed the 6 room side of the dollhouse to cure for a full 24 hours (just as had been done with every prior glue application), before moving on to the 5 room side (the lighting isn't the best as we are in the midst of dreary rain and overhead lighting is no match against it): The same process was repeated: Once complete, in an effort to further seal the wood (whi
