Until I receive the shelf and a few additional items, the Practical Magic Apothecary is at a standstill. That being said, I've managed to complete a lot of it. Below is the front signage... And several shots of the internal shop as it currently exists. Notice the adorable little bell on the door! And a close-up of the "magics" table... As well as a close-up of some of the more "practical" goods... These were taken at night so the lighting is not good. Still, you can take note of the antiquing I've done on the interior fixtures, as well as see many of the paper crafts, potion jars, soaps, candles, beadwork, etc. I'll be working on some further paper crafts to fill the new shelf when it arrives, but I'm also waiting on some connectors so that I can complete another set of jars, but other than that, I don't think there will be anything further to update on this until I've received the other items I require in order to f

I've received the terrarium and many of the furnishings and accessories for assembling the Practical Magic Apothecary room. It's a decent size without being too overwhelming and also has those two wonderful doors allowing for easy access and all of that glass for viewing the interior from different angles. I have wallpapered the back and right sides of the terrarium using cardboard backing, just in case I ever want to disassemble the roombox and utilize the terrarium for its original intended purpose down the line. The left side isn't wallpapered but I intend to make some curtains for the upper portion which will still allow it too look like a "room" and yet allow additional natural light in. I also added a nice sized rug to fill the space and add dimension. In addition, I took an unfinished wood bookcase, cut a trim piece to size and added it to the top section to make it look "pretty," and then antiqued it with paint before adding some purp

Another element of the rooftop garden arrived and I've completed the basic Robotime Jason's Kitchen room. It's another 1:24 scale DIY kit, however, I wanted this one to be truer to a 1:12 scale and so I only constructed the portions that lend to that idea. There's a hutch I plan to use on the spare wall that I will fill with various gardening items, but it is currently with the Hobbies dollhouse further south, which means, as has been fairly typical during this process, I'll have to wait to complete it. For now, I have a to scale planter, which still needs greenery or flowers to fill its currently empty shelves; as well as a sink with a water pump and bucket. It should be said that in the back of my mind I'm fully aware that these elements, when taken as a whole, may not all fit on the rooftop once I have the dollhouse. For instance, that hutch I mentioned above will have to be less than 7" in height and 5" in width, or I'll have to find somethin

It has been a little while since I last posted and that's because I'm awaiting delivery of supplies for my latest brainstorm project. While I wait to get ahold of the Hobbies dollhouse, I feel the need to fill my time with learning opportunities. After taking on the 1:24 scale garden and nordic vacation kits, I must now veer into the 1:12 scale territory. When I first started thinking about how I might go about tackling the renovation or remodel of the Hobbies house, I found a common theme was mentioned by others in both blogs and articles; one that suggested a newbie shouldn't simply jump into building or renovating a large dollhouse if they don't already have previous experience with working with dollhouses and miniatures. So now, I'm moving on to the concept of a 1:12 scale room. Taking on one room will give me a better idea of what it will mean to work in a larger room by room layout like those in the Hobbies house. I think. After giving it some considerable
