Turns out my daughter was disappointed that the dollhouse didn’t have a room where the dolls could eat together. There simply was no extra room left for any sort of table, let alone chairs, but I promised to build her a separate holiday room...because it seemed inevitable that her next complaint would entail some issue pertaining to a lack of Christmas. I stayed with the Tudor theme I used when designing the kitchen, once again handmaking the hardwood flooring, while attempting to cover my bases as it pertains to the various end of year holidays by utilizing pumpkins, turkey, ham, cornucopia, holiday tree, and Christmas themed fireplace complete with stockings. I even added a little light covered in orange Play-Doh to give the fireplace a working ambiance. Her favorite piece thus far seems to be the high chair where she can feed the baby:
Resources (in positively no particular order): EBay  https://www.ebay.com There are too many resources to mention here and, for me, a lot of my purchases were one time listing! Suffice it to say, when it comes to miniatures, there's a lot of selection on EBay. I definitely feel I should give a shout-out to the man who provided the seconds of crown molding and baseboards, as they were an excellent deal. He's transparent about the fact that some pieces may be wavy, which is why you're getting such a good deal, after all. You'll need to be prepared to nail or glue and shim these pieces if you purchase and want them to adhere so that they'll look their best. I can't guarantee he will always have these listings but I'll provide a link, which shows he does currently maintain similar listings. Let's see, I left off with basically everything finished, both inside and out. However, I did have that little flag to complete. I'll get to that in just a moment. I'd previously ordered this little plaque off Etsy (see the resources page for more information on that, once I've posted); and you may have already noticed it on the exterior of the house. I decided I wanted to add a similar one to the flag, however when the second arrived, it was slightly larger. I carefully pulled the first one off, replaced the one on the exterior with the larger version since it actually seemed better proportioned for this spot: Then scored the sides of the flag so the plaque would fit snugly onto its surface, painted it in coordinating colors, and then glued the plaque into place: After adding all of the furniture and accessories, I decided that I also wanted a shelf for the laundry room as well as an accessories tray for the bathtub. These were my final projects: I purch

As Hurricane Florence whirls its way toward my home state, while I continue to pray for everyone who will be affected and hope for the best, I thought I'd post before potentially losing power for an unpredictable period of time. As a result of having to piece it together with scrap wallpaper panels, the interior dollhouse facades are sort of a mess: I'm totally winging it here because I'm not at all sure how to handle it. The facades will have exterior windows, trim, etc; and they also need to be attached to the actual dollhouse by hooks. I can't add too much weight, nor can I add anything that might form a barrier and prevent the hook latching, once installed. I've chosen the yellow room at the bottom right to start with: Clearly, it doesn't look good. At. All. I chose some decorative tape and got to work, hoping for a sort of detailed "cover-up:" I added more decorative tape, painted coffee stir sticks, and finished up both fa

As I mentioned previously, there was an issue with the baseboards; namely, after installing the new flooring, I placed the baseboards against the walls to see how it all looked. I have had this niggling feeling about it for some time now, so I put a few pieces of furniture into one room and the problem became apparent. To be honest, it would have become an issue no matter what flooring was used. These original baseboards are just plain bulky. As a result, furnishings end up sitting far away from the walls. I want to stay true to the person who built the dollhouse but...it just doesn’t look right. Too much space is lost as a result. I went back online and ordered “seconds” of baseboards from the same person I got the crown from. Speaking of which, I’ll add a resource page when this project is complete. Once I received the new baseboards (which are wavy in some cases - the seller was transparent about this so I expected and anticipated some issues would arise); but, just take a look at t
